Peace, Love & Homebirth

My birth philosophy and goal, as a care-giver to women, is to assist each mother in recognizing, remembering, and then reclaiming her personal power through an authentic birth process. In an effort to do this, I incorporate many tools and energy modalities used in ancient birthing traditions and cultures. Some of these include, but are not limited to, acupressure, aromatherapy, homeopathy, herbs, Reiki, affirmations, visualizations, birth hypnosis, crystal therapy, Rebozo work, blessing ways, placenta encapsulation, belly casting, art, amulets, mandalas, massage, music, sound, and chanting.

I have attended over 100 births in total and have traveled out of the country on a midwifery mission to Honduras where I was able to practice my skills and experience birth cross-culturally. I am currently working towards becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife, by first becoming a Registered Nurse. I am currently a pre-nursing student at Wake tech Community College with plans to begin the nursing program in August of 2012.

I attended a "Common Sense and Tradition” workshop for midwives at the FARM in Tennessee at the end of May, 2009 and was able to practice breech birth skills with Ina May Gaskin. I attended the 2010 MANA Conference in Nashville,TN where I continued to broaden my understanding of "Normalizing Breech Birth Delivery" as well as acquedng new information and skills relating to midwifery and client care. This summer I will be working on finishing classes to become a Certified Lactation Counselor.

My long term goals include conducting research in the field of Global Public Health with a specialization in Maternal and Child Health.
